On November 14 and 15, 2013, Auspicium will be hosting a two day (16 hours NASB CPE) training course – Successful Construction Audit and Transition Management at the Union Square Hilton, San Francisco, CA.

 

The cost of attendance is  $1095 per person and includes breakfast and lunch, cocktail reception on first night and all training material.  Students who register before September 1 will receive $100 off. 

 

In this exciting two day course, students will learn how to audit major capital projects involving construction and transition management.  Historically, it has been determined that auditing a project will discover approximately 1-3% of total contract spend – a significant savings that should not be ignored.  Even companies using project managers can take advantage of the techniques taught in this course.  Students will learn industry proven approaches to:

 

  • Calendar and plan a successful construction audit
  • Understand the risk of capital construction projects, including an introduction to Auspicium’s CARE (Construction Audit Risk Evaluation) Methodology
  • Suggest successful transition on a post project basis
  • Apply new COSO Guidelines for deterring fraud specifically as it relates to construction/renovation programs
  • Understand the roles and tools of internal or external project management and how interaction with audit can be enhanced
  • Using construction contracts to mitigate risk. BONUS Session: 17 things to include in quality construction contracts
  • Manage Change orders
  • Detect typical areas of fraud and abuse
  • Identify resources available to assist in construction audit
  • Effectively use the Internet and electronic testing to perform construction audits.

About the Instructors:  

Denise Cicchella, Executive Director, CCA, CIA, CFE, PMP

Denise is a Certified Construction Auditor, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner and Project Management Professional.  Denise is the author of the IIA Handbook:  Construction Audit Guide:  Monitoring, Overview and Auditing.   She is also the co-author of Essentials of Construction Management (a co-author work published by Informa.)  She is considered a leading source in the construction audit field and has presented at many professional organization including the Institute of Internal Auditing and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  Denise spoke at the 2010 International Conferences for both organizations.  She also represented Marcus Evans to deliver Construction Audit Training in Qatar.  She is the founding president of the New York/New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Construction Auditors.  Denise is an instructor for the MIS Training Institute and Compliance on-line.         

Stuart Gardner, Executive Director CCA, CIPFA, CISA, CISSP

Stuart is a Certified Construction Auditor, Chartered Public Financial Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional.   Stuart and Denise are co-authors of Auditing for Corporates – A special publication by the Qatar Finance Agency.

Stuart has performed many construction audits, in addition he brings significant IT, facility management, security, emergency management and business continuity planning experience.

  Stuart is the current president of the NY/NJ Chapter of the National Association of Construction Auditors.
